Isn’t there more to life than this struggle with my body?

Health means Wealth
One of the greatest blessings in life is to be in good health. Many people who have it do not give much thought because it is not a problem to them. We can take our good health for granted when, in fact, it is truly a blessing. I know that we cannot ensure good health but there are steps that we can take to do our best to facilitate health in our lives.
The first step is that we should eliminate actions that cause illness. The Bible says that you will reap what you sow. So, if you are living a life style that diminishes your health then you should not be surprised at all if illness and disease result. People who work hard, play hard, and are hard on their bodies will experience an eventual breakdown of their health. Our bodies are not designed to be abused. But, if you take the time to rest, to allow your body time to heal and to be replenished with proper nourishment and sleep, then you can do your part in eliminating some illnesses.

We should deal appropriately with stress, maintain a healthy lifestyle, control our eating habits, and exercise.

The second step is that we can turn to physicians for help. Doctors are trained in dealing with illness and can prescribe the appropriate actions and medicines to help us. If our illness can be helped, they will know how to do it.
The third step is that we can turn to Jesus, the Great Physician. When we consider the topic of health from a theological perspective, we must remember that Jesus Christ came to earth to “heal those who needed healing.” Jesus is the Son of God and has the power to heal over time or to heal instantaneously.

But, when Jesus heals, He heals our bodies, gives us a new heart, and transforms our minds. In other words, He heals completely and thoroughly. The other aspect of Jesus’ healing is that He heals according to His will and purpose. He is not your servant who jumps into actions when you snap your fingers at Him. He brings healing to help you but also to show you that He will heal all of you as well. Complete healing is offered to you, if you will ask.
Sometimes healing is immediate while at other times His healing takes time. But, even then, He will walk through your trial with you.
You can take the road from illness to health by eliminating those actions that led to the illness, by following the directives of your doctor, and … most importantly, by turning your need over to Jesus.
